If I wanted to change something at Columbia State Community College, what would it be?

The one thing that I would change is the online campus. The online campus is slow and can take a while to load on campus or at my house (in my experience). I also sometimes find my self lost trying to look for a certain thing in the online campus.

The online campus as of right now is fine the way it is, but I think it could be better. I would like to propose that the online campus be upgraded for better performance and to also make it a little easier to navigate.

Benefits for upgrading the online campus would include an overall better experience and overall better productivity of students that have online classes. Having a better experience with the online campus leads to more positive outcomes for the student’s grades because they will be more productive.

In short, I propose that the online campus should be upgraded for an overall better experience with online classes.

Web vs Library: What kinds of information does the Web have compared to the sort of information a library has?

The internet contains a small portion compared to what is published in books.
Eight percent of all journals and even fewer books are on the Internet. Libraries contain more reliable scholarly information from books. A library contains physical copies of information from a published author while the internet contains virtual information that is not always correct. The internet has websites that you can visit to get information about a specific place or places like a restaurant or a hotel. You are probably not going to find information about a hotel in a library unless you use one of their computers. Though the internet can be a very reliable source for information, books will always have more reliable information with some exception of course. Books are constantly being uploaded to the internet, so maybe one day scholarly information on the internet will be as reliable as a book for information. Libraries can offer tons of value because of all the information a library contains.

The best social media site to use for business.

The best social media site to use for business is face book. It is the best because so many people are already using this social media site. Facebook is a powerful tool to communicate with customers and can be used to gain exposure to potential customers. Facebook is also great for promoting your business because others can share your page with people. Another reason why Facebook is the best social media site is that marketing is much cheaper and cost effective.

Scarcity

Scarcity occurs when there is a limited amount of a certain item. Because of how limited that item is, it attracts more attention and increases demand. A real-world example of a website that uses scarcity is Groupon. This site encourages users to buy items quickly with the sale ends soon warning label. Because of tactics that use a warning saying that sales are ending soon, sales will usually increase to a higher amount fairly quickly.

Thank you notes after job interviews

Why it’s important

Writing a thank you note after a job interview makes you look like a well-mannered person, and it leaves a positive impression on you as a person. Notes like these can prove useful too. For example, if you forgot to mention something during an interview, you can easily add what you forgot in the note. Writing a thank you note after a job interview can determine if you get a job or not, and it helps the interviewer get to know you more. According to monster.com, “Three out of four job seekers don’t even bother sending a thank-you note after an interview, according to a recent Accountemps survey of human resources (HR) managers. The survey found that only 24% of HR managers receive thank-you notes from applicants. However, 80% of HR managers say thank-you notes are helpful when reviewing candidates. “

Mediums you should and should not use

Mediums that you should use to leave a thank you note are personal letters or email. It is best to send that as soon as possible. Mediums that you should avoid are SMS and social media because this could be seen as too direct.

How to Compose an Email on a Mobile Device

The first step is to analyze.

  • What is the main purpose of your email? You should stress this in the subject line and in the first paragraph of your email.
  • Now ask your self and identify what you need the audience to do. Make sure your audience can see your purpose when they first open the email.

The second step is composing

  • You need to use short and meaningful subject lines. Use a subject line that will get the user’s attention. This will prevent the user from just scrolling by while he or she is checking their email.
  • Organize your content accordingly. Place your most important and meaningful content first. Doing this will ensure a better chance of the user holding the most important information.
  • Keep your paragraphs short and simple. You don’t want to bore the user with long words in long sentences. On mobile, shorter paragraphs will appear better and more appealing to the eyes. And if you have any attachments, use a short brief explanation of it.

The last step is evaluating

  • A good practice in evaluation is to send yourself the email before sending it to your audience. This can allow you to catch any mistakes you made while composing.
  • Ask yourself these questions: Does the subject line relate to the message? Will the first few sentences be effective as preview text? Does the first paragraph include the main point?

Social Loafing

Social Loafing occurs when people put in less effort when working in a group or team than working on their own. Social Loafing is not a good thing because it can reduce the amount of work being done and take longer to reach certain group goals. Below are some ways to reduce Social Loafing.

  1. Try to keep the group small. People work better in smaller groups because it give more opportunity to hide under other people’s efforts.(blackenterprise.com)
  2. Get people with the correct skills for the correct task. People who are well suited for a position in a group are not going to slack off as much as someone who does not know what they are doing.(blackenterprise.com)
  3. State the objectives of the task and deadlines clearly. If the task is clearly defined, then there is no excuse for the task not to be done by that set deadline. If a person sees that everyone else is clearly aware of the task and deadline, then that person will realize that he or she is just as responsible as the others. (onpointconsultingllc.com)
